CBSUA Library now STARBOOKS Connected
Pili Campus
The CBSUA Libraries in Pili, Calabanga and Sipocot Campuses are now connected to STARBOOKS courtesy of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). The Science & Technology Academic and Research Based Openly Operated Kiosk or STARBOOKS intend to serve as information access portals in key areas in the Philippines, this contains hundreds of thousands of digitized science and technology resources in various formats (text and video/audio) placed in specially designed “pods” set in a user friendly interface.
Among its features include stand-alone information kiosk; hence, information access is possible even without internet connection; the pieces of information are available only thru “read only” format; it is an S & T information resource where the materials are sourced out from local and foreign linkages, subscription, archive collections and in-house publications; and has “Tamang DOSTkarte Livelihood Videos” to promote and support the Filipinos’ entrepreneurial spirit.
STARBOOKS Regional Coordinator, Ms. Pamela Macy V. Dreo, together with IT personnel for DOST Region V, Mr. Antony Andes, assisted the CBSUA Librarians and IT staff in the installation of the STARBOOKS to the server. An orientation on how to use the STARBOOKS was held on 22 November 2019 at the Bicol State College for Applied Science and Technology (BISCAST) Library in Naga City.
The Librarians and the IT staff of the various campuses shall be the lead persons in the dissemination to the stakeholders of the university.
