Digitization of Theses and Dissertation
Pili Campus
With the vast presence of Information and Communication Technology conveniences today, people have become more eager to acquire information and learn from the various sources available on the internet. With the health pandemic, which highlights the utilization of internet services, most students and learners rely on online classes where face-to-face classes are suspended. The proliferation of a broader scope of information in the cloud may have resulted in false knowledge from not authorized and credible sources. Data filtering is a must in this situation by providing a trusted, reasonable, factual, and research value database to lead the researcher to real information and data.
The University Library has started the digitization of undergraduate theses and dissertations submitted by the students of CBSUA in Pili Campus; the digitization process combines procedures like capturing, cataloging, storing, protecting, and retrieving information. It provides access to a digital copy of materials in a PDF format through a web-based platform that the clients can only view.
The University Library will request approval from the students to allow the digital copies of their theses/dissertation to be hosted on the digital platform to be facilitated by the University Library. As part of the policy of this project, only the abstracts can be accessed; however, the full text of these resources can be accessed if the author/s have signified their consent. The clients on this database will be the university's currently enrolled students and faculty and non-teaching personnel connected to CBSUA on all campuses. Furthermore, this project will be extended to partner institutions of the university in future undertakings.
The proposal was presented to the administrative council for comments and endorsement to the Board of Regents (BOR) on October 6, 2021.
