LIBRARY STAFF ATTENDED  NATIONAL ELECTRONIC CONFERENCE ON MAKERSPACES IN LIBRARY
The two day seminar was sponsored by CE-Logic, Inc. on May 11-12, 2017 at Seda Vertis North, Astra Corner Lux Drives, Vertis North, Diliman Quezon City. The seminar was welcomed by Mr. Maximo Gomez, President of CE-Logic, Inc., followed by the first speaker Dr.Mattew Sherburne, Research Faculty, Materials Science and Engineering Department, University of California, Berkeley. The highlights of the seminar were the lectures of the various speakers. Dr. Matthew Sherburne, Research Faculty, Materials Science and Engineering Department, University of California, Berkeley explained that Makerspace is a collaborative work space in a school, library or separate public/private facility for making, learning, exploring and sharing using high tech tools or low tech tools. It helps to develop the creativity of users by enticing them to come up with new inventions or work with do-it-yourself projects. The facility also encourages them to share their ideas and cooperate with others. For session 1, the speaker was Dr.EdizonFermin, Head of Innovation Development, Miriam College. He discussed on how to create and design a makerspace. �The library of 21st century learners. For Session 2, �the speaker was�Mr. Gino Cari�o, the Co-Founder and CEO, Makerspace Manila wherein he pointed out that the Makerspace is like as an incubators of ideas and creativity through collaboration and experience. For Session 3,�Dr .Mattew Sherburne, Research Faculty, Materials Science and Engineering Department, University of California, Berkeley tackled the highlights of the the Fostering Students� Academic Success and Innovation Through Makerspaces. On the second day the participants grouped themselves for a business meeting with Elsevier, FE Technologies, Euromonitor International, C & E Publishing, Inc., McGraw Hill Education, KMCS, and Cengage Learning. Mrs. Celsa I. Competente�and Mrs. Ginalyn Ano of the CBSUA Main Library attended to this conference.�
