NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PHILIPPINE LIBRARIES IN TRANSFORMATION HELD IN NAGA CITY

The Philippine Association of Academic Research Librarians, Inc. (PAARL) sponsored a three - day Conference on April 24 - 26, 2017 held at Haciendas de Naga, Km. 10, Carolina Uptown Naga City, Camarines Sur. The �conference aims to support the libraries transform into more functional and modernised type of services to clients.�� It also showcases the transformative nature of today�s libraries and elevates the critical role libraries play in the digital age. The National Summer Conference �were attended by the Professional Librarians from the different Colleges and Universities all over the Philippines. It was highlighted by the lectures of �the experts speakers from the Philippine Association of Academic / Research Librarians, Inc. The Summer Conference� focused on the Philippine Library Transformation with broad objectives of increasing awareness of and support for the transforming library, shift perception of library from �obsolete� or �nice to have� to essential and energise library professionals and build external advocates to influence local, state and national decision-makers with one idea that libraries transform lives and communities.� �A systematic approach for developing the physical setting of the organisation or institution, help�organisations�manage its important asset.�� At present modernisation is the major thrust of the University Library. One of the popular example is the��converting libraries into � Learning Commons. � Information commons (computer areas) is a vital component of the Learning Commons.�� As part of Library Transformation RFID ( Radio Frequency Transformation is essential for a growing Libraries other applications such as Access Control, Monitoring of library users, Book auto-sorter, Intelligent Book Shelves, RFID Tags, Security gates and self service station. Mrs. Rowena R. Manaog of the CBSUA Main Library was one of the attendees to this conference. The conference was granted 15 CPD points.
